Meaningful Work From Day One

In this role, you will be managing and controlling Brown-Forman UK whole chain of indirect purchasing activities including Sales and Marketing materials in addition to all other related purchasing activity for Brown-Forman’s UK operation.

You will establish an effective and trusted business partnering with Brown-Forman’s UK, European Supply Chain, and GBS leadership teams, as well as a wide range of internal customers across all departments, taking ownership for all the procurement activities, including sourcing, control, execution, and supplier management for the UK & Ireland.

What You Can Expect

Sourcing

● Procure goods and services, as required by internal customers, at the best value for money, ensuring quality specifications and delivery in a timely manner

● Leveraging internal tools (Coupa, Concur, SAP, Smartsheet, etc.) and ensuring

that we drive spend towards preferred suppliers

● Identify, select and negotiate with new and existing vendors that meet

Brown-Forman procurement policy, according to the corporate sourcing strategy

● Identify fresh sourcing opportunities through regularly running spend reports and analysing data

● In collaboration with the Supply Chain Planning department, ensure availability of dry goods for local reworks is met in accordance with stock policy

● Negotiate rework cost, dry material cost and project management of the activity until delivery

● Tracks purchases and negotiates delivery times. Communicates status of

purchases/deliveries to stakeholders as needed

● Delivers value in our procurement process for goods/services by focusing on

innovation, service, quality, risk mitigation, and overall costs

Control and Execution

● Coordinates and communicates with suppliers and carriers to ensure that

specified delivery dates are met on purchase orders issued by the purchasing

group

● Project manage the shipper's activities from conception to execution by

partnering with internal stakeholders across different departments and by

controlling and monitoring supplier performance

● Review and resolves claims and complaints with suppliers regarding

unsatisfactory materials and services

● Provides direction to site-level personnel responsible for tactical execution of

packaging category strategies

● Ensures POs are issued properly and process them for designated packaging

materials and related invoices (i.e., tooling)

● Implement and champion procurements best practices

● Ensuring all items are legal and compliant including, food safe POS, mandatories on all locally developed gift packs and labels etc inline with Brown Forman policy and local law

Supplier Management

● Maintains an understanding of packaging supply base on a local, regional and

global level

● Builds effective, consistent, and equitable supplier relationships while maintaining a high standard of ethics. Meets regularly with suppliers to build rapport and serves as the primary point of contact for local suppliers

● Performs monthly supplier reviews for select suppliers to ensure performance

standards are maintained and at least twice a year presents back to the suppliers for continuous improvements

Business Partnering

● Works closely with colleagues across all departments including Sales, Marketing, and Finance to understand their needs and to ensure consistent availability of materials and services, at the right quality, quantity, and time

● Lead the ‘Reworks, Gifting & NPD’ and POS fortnightly meeting to monitor the

status of projects and ensure alignment on next steps

● Partners with GBS PTP Category Managers and PTP Process Architect to

execute the regional strategic sourcing decisions and to use the standard

process and tools to deliver the work

● Makes recommendations to optimize costs and/or improve services

● Develops and encourages strong partnerships with corporate support functions (GBS, Corporate FP&A, Data Science, Revenue Management, Accounting,

Global Packaging, Corporate Supply Chain, etc.)

● Provides strong leadership and direction to one direct report (local/country buyer)

● Acts as a role model of B-F values and culture

● Leads a diverse and inclusive culture where different perspectives are

encouraged and individuals feel connected and valued

● Supports team development by providing opportunities and coaching to the team with on-going appreciative & constructive feedback

● Engages the team in company’s visions and directions and motivate them to

make active contribution

What You Bring To The Table

● 5+ years experience in Procurement or Purchasing

● Track record of demonstrable leadership experience

● Tender Management and contract negotiation experience

● Demonstrated ability to make clear and concise oral written communications

especially in describing materials and completed packages

● Proven track record of successful related work within a changing environment

● Demonstrated ability to work in an administrative capacity including budget

development and control

● Strong interpersonal skills; able to develop and maintain effective working

relationships with all levels of internal and external contacts and with diverse

cultures

● Prior experience in FMCG industries

Preferred Education & Experience:

● Bachelor's degree

● Line management experience

● Experience with Coupa, SAP, and other procurement tools

● Prior experience in the wine and spirits industry

● CIPS qualified
