Brown-Forman Project Manager - Gift & Innovation in Louisville, Kentucky

The Gift & Innovation Project Manager is responsible for managing and executing all Value Added, Specialty, and Bulk Gift projects for Brown-Forman, ranging from small to medium multipart gift-related projects of various levels of scope, complexity, duration, and project team size. Works collaboratively and leads the internal effort with B-F team members from Design, Brand / Marketing, Packaging, External Manufacturing Operations (EMO), Supply Chain, and Legal. In addition, assists and supports the Director, Portfolio Innovation Projects / Global Production Project Management Office (PMO) with the delivery of product innovations projects as assigned.

Directly manages the planning and execution of all assigned seasonal Gift, Value Added Packs (VAP), and Bulk gift carton projects for Brown-Forman. Responsible for the quality delivery of approved project outcomes and deliverables, overseeing internal and external resources, and ensuring all projects are on time and on budget, while meeting Brand expectations and Production requirements / schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively and leads the planning and execution of seasonal Gift and VAP projects with the B-F Gift Council membership: Design, Brand, Packaging, Purchasing (gift & plant buyers), Supply Chain, EMO, Legal, and Customer Service. Accountable for the quality delivery of project outcomes and deliverables. Projects range from small to medium complex secondary packaging projects of various levels of scope, complexity, duration, and project team size including Gift / VAP and bulk (unassembled gift with purchase) cartons.

  • Facilitates weekly Gift Council meetings, including scheduling review sessions with the Gift Council team, requesting and recording updates of all Gift projects, and publishing meeting minutes.

  • Works in partnership with the Global Production PMO, Design, Packaging, Purchasing, Supply Chain, EMO/Plants, and Brand leadership teams to develop accurate project timelines, scope, schedules, and cost estimates for the all phases of Gift and VAP projects. Works collaboratively with each department to ensure project activities and resources are superbly allocated to align with the priorities established by Brand. Tracks issues and facilitates timely decisions to ensure project success. Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely manner to alleviate uncertainty and ensure project quality.

  • Proactively communicates project status and issues across all appropriate levels of the organization. Uses strong facilitation skills to efficiently and effectively drive issue resolution and consensus across all levels of the organization. Holds project kick off meetings, regular project status meetings, and closeout / lessons learned discussions. Requests feedback from team members for continuous improvement opportunities of the supporting processes.

  • Builds rapport, serves as the primary point of contact for gift-related issues, and maintains an effective working relationship with Global Production PMO, Design, Brand, Packaging, EMO (including contract co-packing facilities whenever appropriate), Supply Chain, Legal, and other key areas.

  • Shares knowledge of Production competencies and capabilities with Brand team members to heighten their knowledge of Production processes and requirements.

  • In similar fashion, maintains knowledge of B-F Brand groups’ Brand Identities and marketable positionings as well as business and competitive sets. Assists and supports the Director, Portfolio Innovation Projects / Global Production PMO, with product innovation and other special project assignments. Assists with PMO meeting facilitation as necessary to ensure effective and efficient delivery of product innovations projects.

Must Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years Project Management experience working on medium to large scale project initiatives including prioritizing and managing multiple projects in a consumer goods environment and/or related brand identity, package design or marketing field. Equivalent education and experience combinations will be considered.

  • Demonstrated experience working with project management tools and methodology.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally. Able to convey ideas and solutions across all levels of the organization, including senior management, Marketing, Sales, and Production. Proven ability to effectively facilitate meetings.

  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment whilst meeting deadlines, and simultaneously develop, deploy, and coordinate multiple projects.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience working with consumer durables, consumer products and/or specific beverage industry experience with an understanding of the Design, Packaging, and Production processes.

  • Experience leading projects with international organizations with diverse cultures, business operations, and organizational needs.

  • PMP or equivalent certification / relevant experience with a proven track record in project management
