Brown-Forman Senior Global Sustainability Specialist in Louisville, Kentucky

Leads and implements sustainability activities at various Brown-Forman business units and sites. Responsible for tactical sustainability activities at Brown Forman. Develop and execute strategies to support global sustainability initiatives. Serve as subject matter expert for site sustainability activities, teams, and pillars. Develop communication material and key sustainability talking points for internal partners. Develop and execute programs to minimize negative environmental impact of operations; seize opportunities for positive impacts. Maintain working relationships with various stakeholders regarding environmental sustainability impacts.

What You Can Expect

Manages strategic sustainability activities for various global, regional and site teams. Responsible for tactical strategy implementation activities at various sites and facilities. Assist site in maintaining sustainability strategic messaging.

Liaise with BF Brands to create sustainability informational content for consumers and customers. Assist BF Brands with integrating sustainability into their brand building. Partner with Global Production to interpret technical language including operationalizing sustainability programs to consumer campaign initiatives. Working with Global Production, Corporate Communications, Legal to ensure that brand stories are current, with credible and authentic information that meets environmental sustainability marketing guidelines/regulations where applicable.

Prepare and maintain internal and external communications including creating digital site content and links.

Lead employee engagement with site sustainability teams and collaborate with community relations.

Lead the coordination of Sustainability Ambassadors across our businesses, creating new teams where appropriate to ensure all employees are engaged and aware of BF Sustainability initiatives.

Work with internal partners eg. Community relations and external partners on developing Employee engagement activities, e.g. Earth Day, World Water day, and volunteer opportunities. Keep abreast of best practices on employee engagement on sustainability.

We Are Looking For People Who

Have a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences or Engineering, or other related degree program with an emphasis on environmental technology AND 3-5 years’ experience in environmental consulting, environmental management, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated ability to understand and assimilate diverse concerns and technical data while considering the complete strategic sustainability picture.

Ability to independently organize work projects; Collect, analyze data and present results in a concise format.

Demonstrated/proven knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations, policies, ordinances, and rules.

Understand environmental issues, domestic and global.

Demonstrated leadership qualities: management, negotiation, and initiative.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with internal/external stakeholders, with demonstrated leadership ability.

Ability and experience operating a PC, with specific experience and proficiency with related business and regulatory software. Proficiency and knowledge of Windows applications. Ability to quickly learn and utilize new software. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Drive, and e-mail.

Experience and comfort communicating with Senior and Executive Leadership Teams with intercultural fluency.

Demonstrated written communication skills, ability to prepare final draft correspondence and reports, excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation skills. Produce finished material from basic instructions.

Ability to organize, prioritize and complete multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail under limited supervision and within established time frames.

Ability to multi-task projects that cross environmental disciplines and Global Production operations.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of information.

Ability to travel to all Global Production facilities and/or other locations; work a flexible schedule and extended hours as necessary.

Excellent organization skills, maintain accurate and detailed files; self-starter with a high level of initiative to make independent judgments.

Ability to execute responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, despite frequent interruptions and changing deadlines.

Grasp tasks and assignments at the time of initial request, take responsibility for developing the method and process for completing tasks and keep Facility and EHS leadership informed.

Exercise good judgment, discretion and maturity in responding to handling all job responsibilities.

Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and to provide written reports & analysis based on that research.

What You Can Add To The Team

Education: Master’s Degree (M.A., MBA or Equivalent); MS Environmental Science, Engineering, MBA with focus on Sustainability Management

Experience: Experience with Brown-Forman structure and Global Production business implications.

Experience with reporting environmental frameworks including SASB, CDP, GRI, SDGs
