Meaningful Work From Day One Responsible for managing and leading fire protection, security and emergency response programs for Jack Daniel Distillery. Responsible for ensuring the protection of all company personnel and properties as well as meeting compliance with applicable regulations. Incident Command Officer in the event of an emergency situation. Manages up to 40 contract guards for 24/7 coverage of Jack Daniel Facilities, as well as the multi million dollar contract with the security company. Responsible for managing and training the JD Fire Brigade department with approximately 35 members. In addition to local responsibilities, this role serves as an global advisor to Corporate Risk Management regarding fire protection for other facilities and serves as BF/JD contact point for Fire Protection committee of DISCUS.
Responsible for investigating, monitoring, coordinating and reporting plant activities relative to fire protection and security to ensure that all company properties are protected from fire hazards, security breaches and potential emergency response incidents. Responsible for meeting compliance with regulatory and corporate guidelines. Assist environmental manager in compliance related to hazardous materials. Coordinate corporate directed insurance inspections. Responsible for ensuring emergency response personnel and security guards are properly trained and equipped to respond to an emergency situation. Ensure all emergency equipment and systems are properly maintained, inspected, and documented. Maintain 5-year capital plan to ensure equipment and facility needs are met.
What You Can Expect
Responsible for monitoring plant activities for to ensure conditions and/or practices exist to protect all company personnel and properties from damage by fire hazards or potential emergency response incidents. Includes routinely inspecting premises for such assessment, ensuring fire equipment is maintained, and conducting fire/emergency evacuation drills as needed. Responsible for creating and maintaining Emergency Action Plans for all departments. Maintain and communicate emergency procedures manual for evacuation and weather incidents ensuring plant personnel are educated and protected.
Responsible for purchase and implementation of appropriate equipment to meet necessary fire, medical, hazardous material, and other emergency response needs. Responsible for maintaining over $3 million worth of equipment and a $500,000 annual budget for the Fire Brigade. Must ensure all emergency related equipment is organized, maintained and in working order when called upon
Responsible for conducting and directing training, including live burn training drills, training and table top drills for Jack Daniel Fire Brigade members, Hazardous Material team and medical emergency personnel. Training must cover how to respond properly to fire, chemical and emergency response incidents. Responsible for responding to emergency incidents, assessing correction action and directing implementation of corrective procedures. Develop, maintain, and audit firefighting pre-scenario training manual. Monitor the morale of the Fire Brigade members and to communication any concerns to supervision.
Responsible for conducting semi-annual inspections with insurance fire protection representatives and coordinating resolution to meet compliance with insurance requirements. Ensures compliance of programs with all regulatory guidelines and corporate objectives to include and meet insurance requirements. Coordinate notification of all fire system shutdowns with insurance carriers.
Responsible for coordinating and maintaining compliance of environmental programs relative to spill prevention, Hazard Communication, hazardous materials handling, and radioactive materials handling/testing.
Manage security program for 24/7 coverage on all gates and a rover during weekends, nights, and holidays.
Responsible to coordinate with plant Security and Facility Maintenance departments to maintain and operate the Simplex fire protection system.Coordinate with General Services that all required valve, hydrant, extinguisher, and fire systems inspection / maintenance is completed timely and documented per NFPA standards.
Responsible to serve as coordinator and trainer of DOT Hazardous Material certification
and registration. Responsible for Jack DOT program, updates, revisions, compliance, training and documentation for 120 DOT vehicles .
Provides direction and supervision of the hot work program to protect personnel and facilities to include coordination, training, and inspection of internal procedures/employees and external contractors/vendors. Coordinate with Engineering and Maintenance to ensure fire watch is scheduled and conducted in an efficient manner on all potential fire related projects. . Coordinate Contractor Safety Program with Engineering and Maintenance departments.
Develop relationships with and provide leadership with MERC (Medical Emergency Response Committee), TEMA (Tennessee Emergency Management Agency), and LEPC (Local Emergency Planning Commission).
Responsible for ensuring necessary mutual aid agreements are met with the County. Work with the EMA Director to ensure annual training is conducted so mutual aid partners are familiar with Jack Daniel facilities and procedures.
We Are Looking For People Who
• Have a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Fire Science, related discipline AND 5 years manager experience in an industrial or municipal environment.
• Demonstrated firefighting experience with a Fire Fighter 1 or Journeyman Fire Fighter certification.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with emergency response teams, with Command / Incident certification.
• First aid and emergency response training.
• Training and certification in hazardous materials handling.
• Knowledge of professional standards and practices associated with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
OSHA 30 Certification
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills – business related software
• Experience with security guards and security systems.
