Brown-Forman Lead IT Project Manager (Remote Work Opportunity) in Nashville, Tennessee

Meaningful Work from Day One:

The Lead IT Project Manager has the primary responsibility for planning, managing and executing projects for Brown-Forman that range from medium to large-scale IT initiatives with varying levels of scope, complexity, duration and team size. This role will manage cross-functional project teams consisting of 10-50+ business analysts, technology engineers, external consultants, and business personnel to successfully deploy technical solutions that enhance processes within IT and across Brown-Forman business units. The Lead IT Project Manager may also serve as a people manager with Program Management Office (PMO) resources reporting directly to the position. Multiple projects will be assigned during overlapping time frames that can range from upgrades to full-scale implementations. Many projects assigned will involve SAP and solution integrations. The Project Manager will follow the Brown-Forman PMO methodology to support successful project delivery and enhance communications and portfolio planning.

What You Can Expect:

  • Leads the delivery of medium to large initiatives (enterprise- wide, unit-specific and tactical operational projects).

  • Ensures alignment of project stakeholders via superb communications, influencing, and relationship building.

  • Oversees all project activities and overall delivery.

  • Influences strategic decisions and provides input in portfolio planning.

  • Simultaneously leads multiple projects, coordinating resources across the IT portfolio and business operating units.

  • Partners with the respective Business Leaders and associated IT Managers to promote the PMO methodology and ensure quality delivery of project deliverables.

  • Ensures project activities are aligned with technology strategy and business goals, while meeting quality, scheduling, budget, and IT standards requirements.

  • Through project deployment, fosters and guides full adoption of tools and common business processes.

  • Provides leadership and training in the consistent use of the PMO methodology.

  • Drives the importance of risk management, formal test plans, and security controls.

  • Ensures internal controls and Brown Forman’s compliance requirements are consistently practiced and maintained.

  • Provides accurate project timelines and ensures project activities and resources are aligned to deliver established priorities.

  • Participates with the IT and Business Management Teams to develop and measure project success criteria and return on investment.

  • Champions the promotion of improved inter-departmental relationships through effective project communications and practices.

  • Advocates for change management with an empathy for relationships and positions.

People Development

  • Develops self in the knowledge of Brown-Forman project methodology, technical skills and culture.

  • Assists project assigned resources and IT Managers in the awareness and knowledge of PMO methodology to achieve increased productivity and quality in Brown Forman’s solutions deployments.

  • Contributes to the development of others on the PMO team, including direct reports.

We Are Looking For People Who:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field.

  • PMP Certification

  • 10+ years progressive experience in leading the deployment of medium to large scale IT initiatives, including SAP and system integrations.

  • 12+ years’ experience working within IT teams to deliver business solutions.

  • Technical skills with knowledge in the development, configuration, implementation, and support of IT solutions, including ERP systems.

  • Experience in working with cross-functional IT teams to deliver system solutions.

  • Advanced change leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage communication, negotiate successful outcomes, identify risks, and engage stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience in building detailed, technical project plans and the creation of all project management artifacts.

  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, meet deadlines, and simultaneously develop, deploy and coordinate multiple projects.

  • Experience in performing the overall project management role for several medium to large scale SAP initiatives.

  • Project management experience leading initiatives of 12+ months in duration, 6,000+ person-days of effort, and project teams consisting of 25+ full-time project team members.

  • Deep level of proficiency and understanding of information technology and the linkage between business processes, people and systems.

  • Solid business acumen across multiple functional areas and processes.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate ideas and solutions across all levels of the organization, including operational employees, senior management, technical personnel, and consultants (written & verbal).

  • Strong facilitation skills to drive issue resolution and consensus efficiently and effectively across all levels of the organization, as well as multiple business units / functional area stakeholders.

  • Well-versed in project management information systems and methodology.

What Makes You Unique:

  • SAP experience in a functional/technical/BW role

  • Experience working in international organizations with diverse cultures, business operations and organizational needs.

  • Foreign language proficiency is a plus.

  • Experience in industries that include manufacturing and/or distribution functions.

  • Contractor and vendor relationship experience.
