Brown-Forman Asia is one of the operational units of the Brown-Forman Emerging International division. Asia presents one of the largest opportunities for Brown-Forman globally and is expected to continue to be one of the most significant growth contributors to the company. With Japan and China as key markets, B-F Asia is composed of 19 countries with 100+ employees distributed across offices in 10 key mega-cities. From a portfolio perspective, Asia is largely led by our flagship Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey brand, as well as presenting a large opportunity for our Super Premium portfolio of American Whiskeys and Single Malt Scotches.

Meaningful Work From Day One

This role leads the Marketing organization for Brown-Forman in Asia. The brand portfolio includes primarily Jack Daniel’s family of brands and a wide portfolio of Super Premium brands; Benriach, The Glendronach and Glenglassaugh single malt Scotch whiskies, Woodford Reserve and other bourbons, as well as Tequilas El Jimador and Herradura, Finlandia Vodka & Chambord Liqueur

Two key elements of the role are: (1) Growth Planning & Portfolio Development (2) Building Marketing Team capability and talent pipeline:

Growth Planning & Portfolio Development : feeds directly into key focus & resource decisions across brand portfolio to accelerate business growth. This role will leverage consumer & business insights in Asia to determine future growth opportunities both within & outside the current brand portfolio. This includes use of core company trademarks, line extensions, channel development and activations that increase penetration & frequency of purchase & consumption. Continually optimizing brand, pack, price, channel & promotional mix combinations for growth.

Building Marketing Team Capability : leading the Marketing Team & developing talent within the team. Using BF EI & Global resources to establish effective training, development opportunities & continuing to develop marketing capability. This position is a key part of both the Asia leadership team and the BFEI Marketing organization and is expected to be influential at multiple levels.

What You Will Experience

Marketing Leadership -

As a key member of Asia’s Leadership team, provides input and leadership to influence company’s day-to-day operations, strategic development, business and portfolio strategies and special projects as necessary, and reports agreed-upon metrics to the team.

Leads Asia Market & Portfolio Strategy-

Develop business / marketing growth strategies by leveraging consumer & business insights across brands, channels, occasions & evolving consumer behaviours & trends in Asia.

Leads & Develops the Asia Marketing Organization-

Leadership for the Asia Marketing department which consists of Brand Management, Trade Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, Category Management, Consumer/Shopper Insights

Brand/Business Building-

Responsible for continuous, sustainable improvement of key consumer metrics and long term brand health

Financial Management-

Pro-actively participates in the resource allocation process in Asia in order to ensure the most optimal long term and sustainable return on investment.

Marketing / Sales Integration-

Can effectively work with sales teams & trade marketing to maximize impact of marketing campaigns & programs at retail.

To thrive in this job, here’s what you should bring ...

10+ years successful track record in consumer marketing management - experience in premium food, beverage or image driven brands and/or luxury products.

Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Marketing or similar

Significant, progressive Marketing experience covering a full marketing mix including demonstrated ability to unlock insights from data and use them to drive material growth. Experience of innovatively deploying integrated platforms to strengthen brand relevance.

Distributor/licensee/agency or sales management experience are preferred

Portfolio development/NPD management experience

Strong Business Acumen, significant A&P budget, P&L experience

Excellent leadership skills, people management and talent development experience

Understanding of Sales and Finance Management

What You Can Add to the Team

Strong knowledge of integrated marketing communications

Fluency in written & verbal business English is a must, Mandarin, Japanese or other languages will be considered a plus
