Brown-Forman Asia is one of the operational units of the Brown-Forman International division. Asia presents one of the largest opportunities for Brown-Forman globally and is expected to continue to be one of the most significant growth contributors to the company. With Japan and China as key markets, B-F Asia is composed of 19 countries with 100+ employees distributed across offices in 10 key mega-cities. From a portfolio perspective, Asia is largely led by our flagship Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, presenting a large opportunity for our Super Premium portfolio of American Whiskeys and Single Malt Scotches.
Meaningful Work From Day One
This role will be responsible for the accuracy of the accounting books in Japan, and comply with both US GAAP and local statutory requirements, in a timely manner. We are looking for someone who is passionate about process improvement (ie. accounting process efficiency and effectiveness) and challenging the status quo.
What You Will Experience
Record to Report (R2R)
Work with Asahi Accounting to ensure monthly closings in Yayoi are done correctly and meet all local statutory reporting requirements.
Perform TB load into SAP, investigate and resolve any discrepancies between the two systems
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analyze B/S fluctuations
Ensure all information from Asahi Brewery e.g. credit returns, destruction of goods and margin discounts from Asahi are recorded properly and accurately
Review and approve the local tax compliance work prepared by Asahi Accounting, including income tax, consumption tax and property tax filings.
Complete quarterly tax provision in OneSource
Ensure correct consumption tax rates are recorded in Concur
Procure to Pay (P2P)
Work with Asahi Accounting to ensure all vendor payments are paid and recorded correctly
Ensure sufficient liquidity for local operations, request funding when required
Process all Taxes and Discounts payment from Asahi Brewery via Coupa
Complete Bank reconciliation
One point contact for bank matters
Internal control and Process Improvement
Partner with the Japan Leadership Team to ensure strong internal control procedures are established and global policies are being followed by the whole organization
Partner with Asahi Brewery to ensure they fulfil all their contractual obligations, including quarterly sampling of their charge back per Internal Audit recommendations
Identify gaps and explore opportunities for better ways of working with Asahi to improve timeliness and data transparency
System implementation per Global direction e.g. Blackline, SAP HANA, SAP Lite
Works closely with HR for monthly payroll update (GL booking, review)
We Are Looking For People Who Has
Accounting degree, CPA
Excellent oral and written communications skills - Fluency in English required
5-7 yrs experience in a similar role
SAP experience required, Yayoi experience preferred
